Catching Up

My blogging has been slipping. Work has been busy, running has been busy, twitter has been easier (follow me here). Sigh...

My training has been going well. I have missed some of my weekday runs here and there, but nothing that makes me question my ability to finish the Chicago Marathon.

I've been feeling really strong lately, like I could run forever. Until last week.

I started feeling a little strain in the groin area late last week. Just a tinge of pain, but it was no big deal. After my 10 miler on Saturday, it was a little more noticable. Yesterday, at about mile 15 it was even more a little noticable. By the time I had completed my 20 miles it was just a little more than noticable.

I'm going to take the next few days easy. With 33 days to go, I need to be extremely careful. I need to be and will be healthy at the starting line on October 12th.

I don't know what training schedule you are using, but after a 20 miler weekend, you should probably step back a bit before pressing forward.

And listen to your body. Sometimes you just need a break! Your training is going so well - I agree that the focus on staying healthy is important!!

I love hearing that you feel you can run forever!

Next week should be a stepback week so hopefully that minor groin pain will subside. Indeed, getting to the start line healthy is half the battle for many, including me. Keep up the good work training and monitoring yourself.

Glad to hear you're going to take it easy for a bit. Take a bit of a break, run easy when you do run. You'll be fine!

Sorry to hear that you are not feeling 100%. Hope that the rest period will rejuvenate you. So exciting that you are running in Boston. Hope things will work out and we can run in the Florida 1/2 marathon in Clermont after Christmas.

Take a break. I hope resting helps the groin heal.

I think that we all worry now.

At work, I hear a sneeze and go out of my way to stay away from that area. I feel a twinge in a thigh muscle and I start to worry. I think that any slight pain could sideline me and I don't want that to happen.

Take care, Maddy. Listen to your body and slow it down a bit! I do want to meet you in person!

BTW... Some say that only cats can hear him...
