Back on Track

It was a good week!

I am more and more feeling like the funk is gone. My mojo is back. The blues have disappeared. Any way you look at it, I am back on track.

I wanted to bring my camera with me on my long run Saturday morning. We started out at the beginning of the South Lake Trail and headed out in the pitch dark at 5:30 AM. We ran into Clermont and got to our turn-around point at the top of a hill on Skyview Drive and saw the sun coming up in the distance over Lake Apopka. It was breathtaking, and worth the 6 plus mile run to see it. and the 6 plus miles back.

I ended my run at 12.7 miles. I thought about extending it out another two miles, but I decided not to push too much, as the hip is finally feeling better and I'm just getting back into the swing of it.

I am looking forward to this coming week. It's going to be a good one. Running and otherwise.

An Awesome New Blog

I wanted to share a new blog I found, Philly to LA on Foot. Road Warrior is documenting his virtual journey across the country while attending physical law school in New Hampshire.

What I like about this approach is the way he is conquering goal by putting some meat around it by tracking on Google Maps.

Check it out! I'm adding it to my sidebar.

Where Have I Been?

Shakin' the Funk. That's where.

I have been reading your blogs, I just haven't commented. And for that I am sorry.

Last week I was still feeling anxious and was having a little bit of a hard time focusing while running. The weekend was extremely busy getting the kids ready for the first day of school.

After we dropped them off this morning I came home and ran 10.6 miles. I would believe the funk has lifted and I am back to feeling like my old self again.

I missed a few long runs and I'm feeling like my training plan will need to be adjusted. I don't think I want to go down to the beginner's plan I have, but I'm not sure I'm able to continue on the intermediate path. I may work off of my own hybrid plan somewhere in the middle of each plan.

My hip is feeling much, much better. With 61 Days to go until the Marathon, I'm sure things will stay on the right track.

And David, I think you're right - a massage is much needed.

Well, You Know...

Things are not going as well as I had hoped.

I could not bring myself to run intervals last Thursday as I had planned. I settled with a tempo run and it was fine. Friday I ran too, but was really distracted. I had 18 miles scheduled for Saturday but my hip is bothering me again and I figured I would get my new shoes and run on Sunday.

I did get the new shoes, but Sunday I got just past the two mile mark and called it a day. It's safe to say I am fighting the funk.

My son has been at tennis camp from 9:00 AM - 1:00PM all week and driving him back and forth (all nine miles) has messed with my schedule. One would think that with more time on my hands, I would have more time to run. I just haven't been feeling it.

The good news is, the hip is feeling a little better. I am starting to feel better. Tuesday I ran 6.5 miles that really helped to clear my head. Yesterday. distracted again, I stopped after 3 miles.

How I've been feeling

I have 16 miles on Saturday followed by a fund raiser car wash - For those of you in Orlando, it's at the 7-11 on 17-92 and 436 from 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM. Bring your car by, donate to a good cause and we'll wash it!

Right now, I'm feeling like things are on the upswing. I don't think I've strayed too far from my training plan. I need to get my hip and my mind healthy and I think I'm getting there.

More Time To Run?

Yesterday, I was informed that due to a financial shortfall, my company needed to reduce headcount.

I am now unemployed.

I am hopeful that this will be short-term, meaning that I will find another job, it is certain I will not return to my former company.

While I am in search of a new job, I no longer will be waking up at the crack of dawn to get my miles in.

I had six miles scheduled for yesterday. My plan was to run when I got home from work. Honestly, by the time I got home, I just didn't have it in me. The plan was to make those miles up today.

I spent a lot of my day reaching out to people I know in my industry, explaining my current situation and asking them to keep me in mind if anything came up.

While I know a run would make me feel so much better, I just haven't been able to get my clothes changed and do it.

Tomorrow is another day. I have speedwork on my schedule and I plan on getting it in before lunch.
